Browsing, Searching, and Filtering
The main screen of SongSync is your central hub for managing the lyrics for your entire local music library. Here's how to navigate and find your songs efficiently.
The Song List
Upon launch, the app displays a scrollable list of all music files found on your device. Each entry shows:
- The album art (if available)
- The song title
- The artist name
- The file path (if enabled in Settings)
Searching for Songs
To quickly find a specific song or artist, tap the search icon in the top action bar. This will reveal a search bar.
- Start Typing: As you type, the list will dynamically filter to show only the songs that match your query in either the title or the artist name.
- Clear Search: Tap the 'X' icon in the search bar to clear your query and return to the full list.
Filtering Your Library
Next to the search icon, you'll find icons for sorting and filtering. The filter dialog allows you to refine the song list based on certain criteria:
- No Lyrics Only: Enable this option to hide all songs that already have a corresponding
.lrcfile in their directory. This is incredibly useful for quickly seeing which songs still need lyrics. - Ignore Folders: This option opens a list of all folders on your device that contain music. You can select entire folders to exclude them from the main list. This is perfect for hiding ringtones, audiobooks, or any other audio files you don't want to manage lyrics for.
Sorting the List
The sort dialog gives you control over the order in which your songs are displayed. You can sort by:
- Sort By:
- Title
- Artist
- Album
- Year
- Duration
- Date Added
- Date Modified
- Sort Order:
- Ascending (A-Z, 0-9)
- Descending (Z-A, 9-0)
Your selected sorting preference is saved and will be used the next time you open the app. You can change the default sorting behavior in the Configuration screen.
