Understanding Lyrics Providers
SongSync fetches lyrics from several different online sources, known as providers. Each provider has its own strengths, and you can switch between them in the app's settings to find the best match for your music library.
Available Providers
Here is a list of the providers currently supported by SongSync:
-
Spotify: The default provider. It offers a good balance of availability and accuracy for a wide range of Western music.
-
Apple Music: A high-quality source that often provides word-by-word synchronized lyrics. It also supports a special format for multi-vocalist tracks.
-
Musixmatch: Features one of the largest lyric catalogs in the world. It is an excellent source for both popular and obscure tracks and often includes lyric translations. It also supports falling back to unsynchronized lyrics if a synchronized version is not available.
-
Netease: A popular choice for East Asian music (C-Pop, J-Pop, K-Pop). It has unique features that can be toggled in the settings:
- Include Translation: Fetches translated lyrics when available.
- Include Romanization: Provides a version of the lyrics written in the Latin alphabet.
-
QQ Music: Another strong provider for East Asian music. Like Apple Music, it can provide word-by-word synchronized lyrics and supports multi-vocalist formatting.
-
LRCLib: A community-driven database of
.lrcfiles. Its catalog is built by users, so it can be a good source for niche genres or community-transcribed lyrics.
Choosing the Right Provider
- For most Western pop, rock, and electronic music, Spotify or Musixmatch are excellent starting points.
- For J-Pop, K-Pop, or C-Pop, try Netease or QQ Music first.
- If you're looking for highly accurate, word-by-word synchronization, Apple Music and QQ Music are your best bets.
- If you can't find lyrics anywhere else, LRCLib might have a user-submitted version.
